Who We Are

The Optical Imaging & Vital Microscopy Core was established in 2014 as a resource dedicated to serve the high end microscopy needs of the research community at the Baylor College of Medicine.  The core specializes in 3D imaging and optical sectioning tools for fluorescence microscopy.  We offer access to a variety of microscopy tools such as laser scanning confocal microscopes, multi-photon microscopes, lightsheet and microCT instruments.

Our core is open to every academic investigator in the greater Texas Medical Center community.

Logan Hsu

Logan Hsu, Ph.D.

Co-Director, Assistant Professor

Logan is the co-director of the OiVM Core, focusing his efforts on the training and support of our tissue clearing pipeline, lightsheet microscopy and microCT imaging.  Logan has spent the better part of the last 5 years perfecting the clearing process for every major organ in the adult mouse!

In his spare time, Logans enjoys cooking, travel, reading, and playing video games with his kids!

How To Find Us

The OiVM Core is located on the first floor of the Cullen building on the Main Campus of the Baylor College of Medicine. If you enter BCM through the front entrance (by the fountains), turn right after checking in with security and head through the glass doors at the end of the hallway. Our offices are just behind the bank of image processing computers.
